Ingredients

  • 115 g butter at room temperature (for banana cupcakes)
  • 100 g brown sugar (for banana cupcakes)
  • 250 g flour (for banana cupcakes)
  • 3 eggs (for banana cupcakes)
  • 120 ml milk (for banana cupcakes)
  • 3 bananas (for banana cupcakes)
  • vanillin (for banana cupcakes)
  • chocolate chips (for banana cupcakes)
  • 1 packet of baking powder (for banana cupcakes)
  • 1 pinch of salt (for banana cupcakes)
  • 600 g white sugar paste (for decorating Minions)
  • black and yellow food coloring (for Minion decorations)
  • 40 g butter (for buttercream)
  • 120 g powdered sugar (for buttercream)

Directions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar until smooth.

  2. Add the eggs, beaten with salt, one at a time.

  3. Mash the bananas, mix them with the vanilla extract, and stir them into the mixture.

  4. Sift the baking powder and flour, then add them to the mixture in three batches, alternating with the milk.

  5. Finally, add the chocolate chips.

  6. Pour the mixture into the muffin cups, filling them 2/3 full, and bake at 180° for 20 minutes.

  7. Let the cupcakes cool completely on a wire rack before decorating them.

  8. Prepare the buttercream by gradually adding the powdered sugar to the butter at room temperature. Beat for 5 or 6 minutes until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

  9. For decoration, color the sugar paste: color 250 g of sugar paste with yellow food coloring and 150 g with black food coloring.

  10. Take 50 g of black sugar paste and mix it with 50 g of white sugar paste to make gray. You can adjust the amounts depending on the shade of gray you want.

  11. You will be left with 150 g of white sugar paste.

  12. Roll out the yellow fondant with a rolling pin, placing it between two sheets of parchment paper, until it is just a few millimeters thick. Using a cookie cutter, pastry ring, or small cup the size of a cupcake, cut out as many circles as there are cupcakes, so that each circle completely covers the surface of the cupcake up to the edge of the cupcake liner.

  13. Take a cupcake and spread a small amount of buttercream on top; this will act as an adhesive for our fondant.

  14. Place a small disc of sugar paste on top of the buttercream and press it down using the palm of your hand to flatten it onto the cupcake so as not to leave unsightly fingerprints on the sugar paste.

  15. Cut out small round discs of white sugar paste to make the eyes and small round discs of the same size in gray for the frames of the Minions’ glasses. Cut out the centers of the gray circles using a smaller cookie cutter. For the pupils, shape a small oval out of black sugar paste and add a tiny dot of white sugar paste.

  16. Now we need to put it all together. To make the sugar paste stick, just moisten the back with a little water.

  17. So let’s start by moistening the back of the white eye discs and placing them on the cupcake. Next, while continuing to moisten the back, place the gray, perforated glasses disc on top of the white eye disc, and finally position the pupil where you want it. As you can see in the photo below, you can create a wide variety of expressions for the mouth using different methods.
